Atlantis from Night Owl Quilting

This eye catching quilt was brought to me by Dorothy,  the pattern was originally a Block of the Month Design from Southwind Quilt Designs called Atlantis.  Dorothy said a friend helped her bring this quilt to completion and now she intends to donate to her church to use as a fundraising raffle.

I though the top was stunning on it own.  It could have gotten a lot of custom quilting, but sometimes less is more.  Dorothy left the quilting decision up to me. I wanted to keep this budget friendly, and let the piecing shine so I opted so the ...

Gemini from Night Owl Quilting

I recently quilted the two variations of the Gemini Quilt pattern for Leslie at Keystone Modern Creative.  Kits are available for this pattern from Villa Rosa Designs.

On the version with the black background I selected the Raindrops pantograph.  I love the bold fireside backing colors on both of the quilts!

On the variation with the white background I chose the Curls and Swirls pantograph. It is amazing how the same blocks are transformed with a change in color and layout.

Three Sampler Quilts from Night Owl Quilting

Tannis sent three lovely Sampler/Block of the Month quilts that purchased somewhere in the 2007-2010 era.  This first one is my favorite as I will always have a soft spot in my heart for batik fabrics.  I like the interesting color placement in the centre of the quilt.

Tannis selected the Expression pantograph.  It a nice design when you desire light handed quilting.

Next up is this lovely blue and yellow floral.  There is something about blue and yellow that is just so fresh and pretty.

The raindrops pantograph was the choice for this one.

Last but not least ...

Bonny's Star Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

This fresh quilt was made by Bonny for her daughter.  One focal fabric with some beautiful coordinating tone-on-tones and solids sure do make for a lovely quilt.

I would say that about half of my clients make quilt design decisions over email and/or text and half visit my studio and we come up with a plan in person. (Covid did increase the need for distant consultations this spring though!)  I am glad Bonny was able to bring this quilt in person as she made a much bolder thread choice than I would have suggested through photos, but I love ...

Three Quilts for Lucky Kids from Night Owl Quilting

I had the pleasure of quilting three lovely quilts destined for children special to my clients.  The first is this cute monkey themed baby quilt made by Tracy.  She asked for custom quilting to highlight the stars.

Swirls in the border and some continuous curves in the background did the job.

The second quilt for Tracy contained some "vintage" fabric so she asked for an all over design for added strength and stability.  We chose a freehand "3 an E" design that I could quilt in a scale that suited the size of the quilt.

This last quilt was made ...
